Welcome parents and students...

 ....and step into my classroom!

I am excited to be here at Learning Unlimited and to be entrusted to be your teacher!
Below you will find information about what my expectations are,  as well as details regarding the course work. Please know that I am available to answer any questions you may have and support the growth of each student.

All YOU  need to know to get THAT A+

  • Always come prepared to class. (yes, that means that you need to do                      your homework, read you novel/chapter/class notes).
  •  Take responisibility for your learning: If you start to fall behind, seek the help that you need. I am available by appointment in the afternoons as well as mornings before school starts at 8:00, however it will be much appreciated to schedule these times in advance. Additionally, there are many peer tutors available to help out after school if that's more up your alley.
  • There are NO strupid questions! ASK, if you don’t understand something.
  •  We are here to LEARN! Act accordingly.
  •  Take notes and keep an organized notebook.
  •   Participate regularly during classroom discussions.
  •   Review and be prepared for tests.
  •   Be honest! Handing in someone else's work as your own is simply not                  cool. (plus you'll get in serious academic trouble!)*
*more on this later!

Grading Distribution
For grading categories please go to your class' page.

Homework/Classwork
!
Due dates are given for ALL assignments.  Any assignment turned in after the due date will be reduced by 20%.  Extenuating circumstances will be evaluated at my discretion.
All handouts and returned work should be kept in a class notebook.  Students are responsible for keeping the work to verify that the work was turned in.

Academic Honesty:*
Work should be a reflection of individual student ideas.  Students should not look at another student’s work or share their work with others.  Receiving or providing answers for an assignment, essay, quiz, or test is cheating and academic dishonesty—regardless of its form.  All written essays will be processed through Turnitin® to check for plagiarism.  The threshold of copied work will be discussed on the assigning of the essay.
Any such action will result in a referral to the office for further review and possible additional disciplinary action.
Cheating includes:
  • Copying, texting, emailing, or in any way duplicating assignments that are turned in, wholly or in part, as original work.
  • Exchanging assignments with other students, either handwritten or computer generated, whether you believe they will be copied or not.
  • Using any form of memory aid during tests or quizzes without the express permission of the instructor.
  • Giving or receiving answers during tests of quizzes.
  • Taking credit for group work when you have not contributed and equal or appropriate share toward the final result.

Make up Policy

It is the student’s responsibility to make up notes, homework, quizzes. and tests.  I will work with the student to help and schedule any tests/quizzes.  However, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange the make-up time and ask for any handouts.  Normal policy will be one extra day for each day missed.  If the student fails to make up the work on the assigned date, a score of zero will be recorded.

Classroom Expectations

Appropriate behavior is expected in class!  Students should treat staff members and other students of the class with respect.  Behavior such as being disrespectful, talking while not recognized by the teacher, loud conversing, and other such activities are prohibited.  Students should be in their assigned seat and ready to work when the bell rings.  The classes are encouraged to have discussion and ask questions, but it must be in the context of the subject.  Quality of participation in class discussions and other activities will be noted.
Students are expected to be in class.  Trips to the bathroom during class will be kept at a minimum.  Students should use the bathroom prior to class.  Don’t plan on making a habit of such trip during class time.

Respect the rights of others
Only one person talks while everyone else listens. Treat others with dignity and respect. Students should feel safe to exchange ideas.  Professional courtesy should always prevail. No profanity, inappropriate conversations, or name calling of any kind will be tolerated.

School policies on cell phones and dress code will be strictly enforced

Lastly, we will have a lot of fun learning new things daily in class, but please make sure you come to class prepared, leave your ego at the door, and always work hard to be respectful to myself, our classroom, and your fellow classmates.

Parents and students, if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact me via school phone or email email me at lsokolova@luschool.com.

Let's have a fantastic year!
